'A Walk in the Woods' took place in May 2006.  I invited visitors to help create a large sculptural installation at Pickwell Manor Woods in North Devon.

I used only natural fibres.   With the trees as the framework and a range of colours I had selected from the cotton threads I use for my pictures and sculptures, threads were attached to and ran between trees and branches.  Without the trees which it was built around, it had no form.
The sculpture’s final shape depended on the people who visited and took part.  Visitors could participate on many levels.  Some came to see the work and how it changed, to talk with people involved, or to join in. The making of the piece suited everyone; some would climb through the sculpture, adding to what was there; others expanded the edges; some people worked on a small, neat, detailed patch without moving from the path; while others tangled several meters of thread.  Other artists also joined in: with the visitors; assisting me; or allowing their work to be inspired by the project.

The public and pupils from Georgeham school joined me to contribute, or to watch, as the creation took shape over a two week period.

M'Larkey's music added to the atmosphere of the final evening.

In response to A Walk in the Woods poet, Frances Thompson, wrote
'BirdsWords'.
